Glenavon can confirm Bobby Burns has joined Scottish Premier Football League side Heart of Midlothian after successfully completing a medical yesterday. The terms of his transfer include an agreement from the famous Edinburgh side to play a pre-season friendly at Mourneview in 2019 together with the normal enhancements linked to first team appearances. Bobby was, of course, recently voted Glenavon Player of the Year by supporters following a series of impressive performances with the first team during the past year. We thank Bobby for his contribution to the club during his time with us and wish him every success in his future professional career.

The formalities were completed over the weekend when Glenavon Chairman Adrian Teer and Manager Gary Hamilton accompanied Bobby to Edinburgh.

Speaking to us this morning Gary said “Obviously we’re delighted for Bobby but we’re sad to lose him at the same time. He’s been with us since he was 14 and in fact he was only 14 when he made his first team debut in a pre-season game. We always knew he had the potential to play at the highest level and we expected he would get a move maybe after a couple of seasons playing in the first team for us but he’s done it after just one. To get a move to a major club like Hearts shows that they recognize the potential that Bobby has and I’m sure he’ll grab this opportunity and hopefully have a successful career as a professional footballer.”
