Gary Hamilton is aiming to get back to winning ways in tonight’s Danske Bank Premiership game with Carrick Rangers the visitors to Mourneview Park, kick-off 7:45pm.

After falling to defeat to league leaders Coleraine last Saturday the Glenavon boss pointed to a lack of the high energy levels that had helped his side go five games unbeaten in all competitions but he did concede that Coleraine didn’t allow his team to play their usual game. Long kick-outs by the Bannsiders’ keeper Chris Johns caused the Glenavon defence particular problems and a fourth penalty conceded in five league games must be a concern as the Lurgan Blues have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of the six games so far this season. Goals are coming freely for the Lurgan Blues with Andrew Mitchell and Adam Foley joint top scorers on five goals apiece and the team also leads the goals chart with 19 league goals so fans have been guaranteed plenty of entertainment value.

Carrick’s unbeaten run of three games also came to an end this week when they lost at home to Ards who picked up their first points of the season thanks to a late goal. Rangers Mark Surgenor will miss tonight’s game after he was sent off for two yellow cards in that game.

A win tonight for the Lurgan Blues would see Hamilton’s team move up to second spot, at least until after Saturday’s matches.
