During the half-time interval at last Friday’s match with Glentoran, representatives from Glenavon Academy were presented with their certificate for completing the IFA Clubmark award. Handing over the certificate from the Irish FA was Regional Grassroots Development Officer Ken Duncan and Youth Development Co-ordinator Robert Davidson.

The Academy has recently completed this award which ensures the coaches are working to best practice in areas including, Child Welfare and Safety, Administration and Coaching. Glenavon Academy is one of only a small selection of clubs in Northern Ireland to achieve this prestigious award and it is testament to the hard work that is going on within the Academy as they look to provide the best possible environment for our young players to develop and enjoy the game.

The next stage is for the Academy to complete the Advanced level of the award as they continue to improve their programme.

Congratulations to all concerned.

Academy Head Ryan Prentice told us “the main things from my perspective is that we are one of only a few clubs to achieve this award and we are now pressing ahead for the Advanced Clubmark award which is the highest level that can be attained with the IFA and Sport Northern Ireland. I would also highlight that is shows the great work that is going on behind the scenes at the academy to ensure we are providing the best possible environment for our players to enjoy their football and develop as people and players. The academy has the aim of being a national leader in youth development and this award is another step on the way to us achieving this aim.”
