Eoin Bradley returns to the starting lineup and teenage centre back Caolan Marron retains his place for the third consecutive game since making his league debut against Ards last Saturday. Joel Cooper also gets a start after sitting out Wednesday’s league cup game due to suspension with Mark Patton dropping to the bench.
The visitors enjoyed the better of the opening 20 minutes or so with Andy McGrory making a goal-line clearance from Jonathan Addis’ header following an Eric Foley corner in the 13th minute and Ciaran Caldwell seeing a 20 yard effort crash off the bar.
Cooper opened the scoring after 24 minute when Bradley played a ball down the right to Greg Moorhouse. He beat Jay Magee and squared it to Cooper who only had a defender on the line to beat and he made no mistake.
After opening the scoring Glenavon lifted their game and carved out a few half chances before the interval.
In the 51st minute Elliott Morris got down to turn Cooper’s free kick round the post despite the distraction of Rhys Marshall making a run across the line of the ball.
Former Glenavon defender Jay Magee equalised after 65 minutes with a close range header from a free kick by Eric Foley. It seemed to be a harsh free kick for a handball when the ball was driven at Mark Sykes from a yard away.
Elliott Morris pulled off a superb save to tip a deflected Cooper shot over the bar in the 74th minute.
Four minutes later Foley went close with a 20 yard free kick.
After picking up a very soft yellow card for an innocuous challenge in the 81st minute James Singleton was sent off for a second yellow in the final minute of stoppage time.
