Sad News

Glenavon Football Club is saddened to hear of the passing of our former player Jim Semple. Older supporters will recall that Jim was a member of the team that faced Danish champions Aarhus in the European Cup in the 1957/58 season – the first time an Irish League side had entered Europe’s premier club competition.

Over the years Jim was a welcome visitor to the Mourneview Boardroom, as Chairman of Crusaders and President of the Irish League and more recently as Vice President of Crusaders Football Club.

Condolences are sent to his family circle and friends at this sad time.
