Glenavon eased into the semi-finals of the Mid-Ulster Cup with a comfortable win over Tandragee Rovers.

Fabio O’Brien put Glenavon in front from the penalty spot in the second minute after his shot was adjudged to have been handled. Two minutes later he missed a second spot kick, awarded after Mark Patton was felled in the box. Unfortunately the Dubliner blasted this penalty high over the bar.

The home side did go 2-0 up in the 11th minute when Daniel Kearns intercepted the ball and played in Joel Cooper. He raced to the bye line and cut back the ball leaving Kearns with a close range tap in.

Sixty seconds later and the visitors pulled a goal back when Aaron Gallacher got on the end of a low cross and slotted a right foot shot beyond the reach of James McGrath.

Andy McGrory, playing at right back tonight, raced onto a through ball from Patton and calmly slotted the ball past the Rovers keeper to make it 3-1 after 37 minutes.

Fabio made it 4-1 inside the first minute of the second half when he slotted home after good set up by Kearns and he completed his hat-trick to make it 5-1 with another penalty in the 58th minute after Joel Cooper was felled by Ricky Dobbs.

Young substitute Conal Delaney made it 6-1 in the 77th minute when his manager unselfishly teed him up for a close range finish after more excellent work by the very impressive Kearns.

Gallacher grabbed his second goal of the night with 7 minutes remaining, smashing in a shot from just outside the box after the ball rebounded off a post.

Delaney made it 7-2 with his second goal of the night, firing low into the bottom corner from the edge of the box after he was set up by Cooper.
